Grace Hartigan was a compatriot of mid-century masters Jackson Pollock, Larry Rivers, Helen Frankenthaler, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Knox Martin and Frank O’Hara, the ground breaking artists of the “New York School,” or as they were known then, the Cedar Tavern Circle. Saratoga Toga Party

7 PM
October 25, 2014

The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance  -- Aristotle

The Saratoga Toga Party  will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 7 o'clock in the evening at 218 West Saratoga Street, sitting just between Park and Howard Streets.

The Saratoga Toga Party is a multi-faceted event highlighting area artists, while also celebratory of MAP's homecoming - a return to our building now located within the Bromo Tower Arts and Entertainment District on Baltimore's west side.

Every fall MAP produces its annual fall benefit -- an important and crucial part of the organization's annual fundraising initiatives, but more importantly the event is a conduit for MAP to present interesting and relevant themes being explored within contemporary art today. This fall will be no different as MAP pursues the topic of Greek and Roman mythology; and the visual outcomes of that exploration as translated through performance and 2-D and 3-D artwork.

Exhibiting artists include: David Brown, Rene Trevino, Peggy Fox, Cara Ober, Lu Zhang, Jay Gould, Lynn Silverman, John McNeil, Carolyn Case, Kyle Bauer, Mary Opasik, Laini Nemett, Andrew Liang,  Eileen O'Donnell, Helen Glazer,  Suzanne Coley, Ernest Hollowak, Christopher Owen, Valerie Smith.

Performers: Al Zaruba, Jumpin Jupiter, Blacksage & DJ Just Kid

*Special thanks to our in-kind beverage sponsors Union Craft Brewing & The Liquor Pump and our food sponsor Acropolis Restaurant
