About

Mission

Our Statement on Diversity:

Art can transcend boundaries, challenge perspectives, amplify all voices, and bring people together regardless of background. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space where artists and audiences feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully in all programs and activities. In doing so, we recognize the importance of addressing systemic barriers and inequities within the arts sector. We are committed to providing fair and impartial opportunities for artists to engage with diverse communities that gather at events, programs, and exhibitions at MAP while acknowledging the need to continue to listen, learn and act.

Our Mission

Maryland Art Place (MAP) inspires, supports, and encourages artistic expression through innovative programming, exhibitions, and educational opportunities while recognizing the powerful impact art can have on our community. MAP creates a dynamic environment for artists of our time to engage the public by nurturing and promoting new ideas. MAP has served as a critical resource for contemporary art in the Mid-Atlantic since 1981.
