Out of Order MAP’s Infamous Self-Hung Benefit Exhibition, Silent Auction and Party Returns!

Friday, April 11, 2008

March 19, 2008—Baltimore, MD, Maryland Art Place (MAP) is pleased to announce the return of Out of Order, the organization’s much-anticipated self-hung benefit exhibition, silent auction and party!

Scheduled for 8 pm, Friday, April 11th, Out of Order will feature original artwork created by hundreds of emerging area artists that will be made available for purchase through a silent auction. Guests are invited to mingle with some of the region’s most interesting artists, collectors and art enthusiasts while enjoying a selection of great food, music and an open wine and beer bar.

Through the years, Out of Order has enabled many individuals the opportunity to begin their art collections, and more seasoned collectors to build upon and diversify their collections. It is anticipated that artwork in this year’s Out of Order will represent a broad range of mediums providing an incredible selection and value for prospective buyers. Proceeds from artwork sales will be split 50/50 between MAP and the artist and will directly support MAP’s exhibitions and programs throughout the year.

Current MAP members need only call to reserve their complimentary tickets. Becoming a member of MAP will entitle individuals to a year of valuable membership incentives, plus two complimentary tickets to the event (an $80 value).

Artists are invited to participate by installing one original work of art in MAP’s galleries during a non-stop twenty-four hour hang beginning 9 am, Wednesday, April 9th.  Artwork must be made available for sale and will entitle artists to free admission to the party. For submission guidelines, please access MAP’s website: www.mdartplace.org. Individuals volunteering for the party on Friday, April 11th or any of the three-hour shifts during the twenty-four hour hang will also be entitled to free admission.

For more information about this event or any of MAP’s program offerings, please visit our website: www.mdartplace.org or call (410) 962-8565 to speak with a staff member.
